Research and Development
Studies give evidence that violence among children is widespread. Psychological disturbances and the acceptance of violence are growing particularly in the young generation (see The Daphne Experience 1997-2003, p 21, Fröhlich-Gildhoff 2007, Robert Koch Institut 2007). Although the importance of early learning and the key role of teachers are recognized and violence prevention (VP), peace education (PE) /life skills education are legally embodied at the European level, the age group, implementation, effects, frameworks, structures and development possibilities of sustainable approaches to primary prevention, to peace education, especially in compulsory kindergarten education, are under-researched.
NVE is addressing weaknesses in practice oriented research regarding peace education and violence prevention in compulsory kindergarten education.
