Mission
NonViolent Education (NVE) is part of IFOR´s programme on Non-Violent Education and Training
(NVETP) aiming at making non-violent education, peace education and universal violence prevention
an integral part of compulsory kindergarten education.
NVE cooperates with researchers, practitioners, institutions and individuals contributing to frameworks
and implementation of kindergarten education on international, national and local levels.
NVE contributes to innovation in this important field of education and to synergies from international, national and local cooperation of those responsible for policy and provision of kindergarten education.
NVE promotes consequent implementation of Art 19 and 29 of the Convention on the Rights of the
Child in compulsory kindergarten education by
The International Fellowship of Reconciliation (IFOR) is an association of 70 peace organizations
in over 40 countries. IFOR members, among them well known Nobel Peace Prize Laureates (including
M.L. King, M. Corrigan-Maguire, and A. Perez Esquivel) are committed to active non-violence from a spiritual basis at a personal & social level. IFOR played a crucial role in launching the UN Decade for
the Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World (2001-10) and is contributing to it
with activities supporting research and action in education for peace and non-violence targeting also the youngest and most vulnerable in compulsory education (kindergarten-level). IFOR supports communica-tion, events, conferences, trainings, urgent actions and campaigns to combat violence, has consultative status at UN and UNESCO and is a member of the Conference of European Churches. With the funding
of the Dutch Ministry IFOR runs the Women Peacemakers Program (WPP).
